Royal household sources have revealed Trump is unlikely to be invited to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they do not see him as a “friend.”

Trump cancels February visit to UK after fearing mass protests and falling foul of Theresa May by sharing videos uploaded by the deputy leader of far-right organisation Britain First, Jayda Fransen.

Now Trump looks set to face further embarrassment from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Insiders have revealed it is very unlikely they will invite the US president to their nuptials on May 19 as the couple do not see him as a “friend”.

Speaking to the Mail, a royal source said: “Although the guest list hasn’t yet been announced, there is no reason he would be invited.”

The wedding is expected to be a low key affair by royal standards – however claims the US president has been lo-overlooked as he is not a friend of the couple have raised suspicions his predecessor Barack Obama may attend.

Barack Obama has a close relationship with the prince, and met up with the royal earlier this month for an interview when Harry took over the running of BBC Radio 4’s Today.

Royal insiders added: “Although the wedding is being attended by the Queen, it isn’t an official state occasion.

“It is a family event. Unless the President was a close personal friend, which he is not, there would be no real protocol, no reason for him to be invited.

“Harry and Meghan have made clear that this is very much an occasion and a celebration for their close family and friends.”
